Unit 1: Blogs
Well, this was the first time that I have experimented with blogs in depth. I have to say that at this point I am overwhelmed and need to look at the tools and interact with it more. After reading some articles about the benefits of using blogs in the classroom I am intrigued to look into this more. One of the articles I read was titled "Using Blogs to Improve Differentiated Instruction" which states that "blogs expand instructional time by providing teachers with a user-friendly online format to reinforce strategies, introduce new topics and concepts, review important class points, review for tests, and provide enrichment." (Colombo 2007) The article further went on to state the various aspects of blogs being very beneficial to many populations of students such as ELL and SPED students. For example, providing videocasting to reinforce concepts. After reviewing the articles and looking into the blogs, I have to ask the question...is a blog the best vehicle for technology in the classroom? I currently use wikis and like them a lot. So how does a blog compare to a wiki?
